While we are all in a panic...

... suddenly...and in my opinion, in the nick of time... we have forgotten our presidential shrubbery! Rather than encouraging us in this time of stress and need, he looked as haggard as most of us feel. Oh for someone who will say "America is a great country, we are strong, resilient, passionate and intelligent people, we will get through this! And then put forth a plan that is actually thought-out!

This is a hilarious video about the current president, created by a citizen of my former abode... San Diego!

LI's Free Form Machine Emrodery Shirt!

Hey Stitchers! Like I said, I was sewing yesterday afternoon... This is my first attempt at free motion embroidery and I have to say, its both harder and easier than I thought it would be. Harder to control the tension! As you can see I didn't get it exactly right because the bobbin kept showing through. Sooo if you cant design it out call it a feature, the feature here is that is softens the overall look of the work, isn't that lovely? so ... soft? Hah!

...and it was much easier to control the movement of the "lines" of thread. Upon looking above you might be thinking, "control? this woman is sliding headlong into a tree without her poles! control! NOT" but it could have been much worse, and I just love the texture!

What do you guys think? Anyone stitchin this weekend?

Hey Stitchers for Obama, its raining here in Ohio, has been for days, so, between bouts of cleaning up basement puddles (I am not kidding, Noah had nothing on us...) and working, I have been surfing. North Canton Democrats!

These as some passionate folks and look at that logo, just picture a little elephant, tumbling trunk over tail off the powerful kicking hoof of our little donkey! Not that I have anything against the Packaderm Parade, but it is truely time for change, and the further they can land from the presidency, the better for our neighborhoods, for our health care and for our environment.

And the logo above runs down the left side of the site. Hah! Click on the button to help save your own donkey! Grin! Donate!

Be well!

Welcome to stitchers for Obama

Welcome Everyone!

Now, I am not the community organizer type, but I have been sitting here behind my computer percolating with a vengeance. Percolating ideas... Money making ideas... Having fun ideas... Getting Barak Elected ideas...

Announcing! The new Stitchers for Obama Group!

Gather around creative stitchers, be ye of the quilting clan or the embroiders league, gather new and old stitchers, pick up your needles and... STITCH! This is a group of fund raisers centered on fiber creativistas!

The first order of business is to stitch a shirt. I have designed several nice shirts and have them for sale over at café press. They are the height of DIY! The lovely pattern printed on the shirt really needs nothing more than you to wear it and show the world that you love to stitch, but if you are in the mood, (and I am sure you are) to make it your own, use it as an embroidery pattern and embellish the shirt with stitches!

This blog is sponsoring a contest with the proceeds going to the Obama campaign. Buy one of these shirts listed on the blog and embellish it using the guides on the shirt, or do your own design.

Go here t get one: http://www.cafepress.com/wildspiritarts/5931503

We will have two winners, first the person who most beautifully uses the provided designs and second to the person who most beautifully creates his/her own design. All designs must have the Obama logo and be one of a kind (ooak) pieces of fabric art. You can paint, stitch, sew, embellish, distress, and craft to your hearts delight, wear it, take a pix, Join the group and Upload it to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stitchersforobama.

If you are not the joining type, email our group and one of us will help you with the technical stuff. The way café press works is that you design the art and then tack on 2 dollars, they print it, package it, and send it to the person who buys it. So we will give the 2 bucks we make Towards Getting Mr. O elected, its a great investment and you get the cool shirt/mug/whatever to wear, and stitch! Everyone will get to see the beautiful work you do in our gallery!

Now, once you have made your shirt, you will have something to wear as you ponder how to raise money for CHANGE, how can creative fiber artists effect the culture as a whole and add color and passion to our communities and families? One of the things you can do if you are a webaholic like myself, is to start a blog of your own on the Obama site. Here is mine.

Li's Obama Blog

See the stuff there to the right? There are all kinds of ways to get involved there, in your immediate community as well as online.

I look forward to meeting you, hearing what you have to say and seeing your art!
